Extracurricular

I have a daily flickr feed (read more about my photos). I'm a fan of photography sites like Photojojo, Strobist, and 20x200.

I make kites out of trash bags (originally inspired by the garbasail page on Urban Dictionary). A friend kindly took some photos of my first kite's maiden voyage.

I manage websites for:
   - the UCB Biophysics Graduate Group
   - the CellScope project for mobile medical microscopy
   - The Berkeley Science Review, a grad-student-run magazine

Science communication

I'm interested in new ways to communicate about science, from visual media to journalism and public speaking. A couple of inspirations include the MIT Media lab and information-science writers like Ed Tufte.

For several years, I was a writer and web editor for the Berkeley Science Review, a grad-student-run publication covering science and policy topics at UC Berkeley.

Articles I have written for the BSR, by issue: 16, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10.
